First up a rather exciting pic!

Sorry for the extremely delayed blog, in fact I think it was ages ago when I completed another one, a lot has been happening for us here lately, as most of you know we launched the first wedding shoe and accessory showroom of its kind here in the South West in August 2011, well we didn’t really anticipate the level of interest in our concept, we certainly did not want it to have that traditional bridal feel so went all out in creating that something special.

Well in January this year I had a lovely meeting with the delightful Charlotte Balbier as I felt that we really could be offering that one stop shop if we offered wedding gowns as well, it is extremely important to me that I only sell brands that I feel represent the bridal industry beautifully which is why you do not see us selling every so called bridal shoe brand in the market. I adore Charlotte’s wedding gowns but wanted to see them in the flesh and of course meet the designer in person.

During this meeting we decided to take the plunge and throw ourselves into the gown field but again what sets us aside to others is that we are focusing our expertise within the field on just one brand and one to be proud of. Charlotte’s gowns are the epitome of bridal excellence, beautiful fabrics, lace being a huge emphasis on the collection and of course a favourable price point we feel.

During this meeting I then made the decision that it would be time to move premises, we’ve gone from a small box room in our 8 years to three large units but I felt they were lacking that professional touch somewhat so much to my husbands dismay I started looking for something new, not to mention I wanted everything in one place. The thought of recreating our showroom on a larger scale filled my husband with dread I think but I knew it was imperative for the future of the business and I can’t see me stopping here either I also felt it was important to showcase the beauty of the gowns and accessories fully with space for our customers to enjoy the surroundings that we offer (or any excuse to buy a few more chandeliers some might say).

So for the last couple of months, we’ve been planning, relaunching and looking to the future which is why I have been so quiet but I am delighted to give you a sneaky peak of what myself and my wonderful interior designer have created of which we are sure you will agree is a real haven for our brides to be and the bridal party.

As many of you know we exhibited at the National Wedding Show in February and we felt highly privileged that Chantelle & Alex approached our stand and Chantelle took a particular shine to the shoe “Cherish”.

We are thrilled to have received an amazing e-mail this morning to advise that our wonderful brand “Era Boutique” is being featured in “NEW MAGAZINE” for the 12th March edition.

With a circulation of over 500,000 we are overjoyed to have been given this prime advertising opportunity and shall be placing this photo and article into a frame for our new showroom, we are elated, excited and over the moon with this.

Well where do I start, I warn you this may be long ! I have just returned from the most tiring yet totally fabulous experience of my life !

We do many local wedding shows in the south west of england but this year we thought we would take the plunge and take our showroom to the National Wedding Show at Olympia, now there was no guessing what we were showcasing at the event as we commissioned the wonderful Debbie at Through The Window Interiors (who did our showroom) to make us 2 enormous wedding shoes to showcase all of our delights alongside a smaller centrepiece complimented by an oversized chandelier to really showcase some sparkle. Now our sparkly heels were hand glued with over 25,000 crystals but they certainly made the impact.

Why did I want two giant shoes? Well the one thing I wanted to acheive was maximum impact on our stand in terms of look, the way we showcase and being able to take as many styles as possible from our favourite brands which included Paradox London and Rainbow Club.

Okay so I knew this would be a learning curve so I am hoping this will also give alot of you some advice when exhibiting at these big events. Firstly, arrange for your show stand to be delivered straight to your stand, not only did I learn afterwards we had parked in the wrong place but three ladies carrying extremely heavy showcases was not easy.

Also although it is pretty amazing to have an eye catching stand, assess how practical it is, our stand was full of excited brides wanting to find their perfect wedding shoe but in all fairness with shoes at every angle and corner, it was quite difficult for them to see everything with simplicity due to the volume of people, although I would certainly have another stand with such impact, I think I would lay them out in a more viewable way. Fear not the shoes are still coming with us wherever we go !

We showcased our beautiful bridesmaid dresses at the show aswell and soon learn’t that we needed to have a changing facility for them so fear not we are booked for next year already with all the things we have learn’t in progress.

So who did we see and meet at the show? Firstly we finally had the pleasure of meeting Pippa at Wedding Ideas along with Rachel Southwood, it was so nice to put faces to names and we discussed many things with them such us our new collection and what we were up to, I was supposed to be interviewed by Pippa for her own blog but I am afraid we were so busy that we missed out on that fab opportunity

We were thrilled that two of our bridesmaid dresses were featured on the catwalk, these two dresses were the Midnight Blue Grecian Short Bridesmaid Dress and our fabulous 50′s Style Short Bridesmaid Dress in Fuschia

We are hoping to receive the video very soon for this so we can show you all. Another highlight of the event was the launch of our wonderful new collection “Era Boutique” Wedding Shoes

I have been reselling all my favourite brands for over 8 years now and after years of designing, changing my mind and deciding upon the best products to launch for the bridal market, my wonderful collection has now been born. Here is a sneaky peak at the collection.

We had the pleasure of Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton coming to our stand, they were clearly looking for inspirational ideas at the show but we were thrilled when she chose our beautiful “Cherish” Wedding Shoe to look at right away. We had a lovely chat with them, an extremely down to earth wonderful couple and we at Girls Of Elegance wish them every success for the future.

I was totally elated that the lovely guy who planned my own wedding in 2004 was exhibiting at the show and went along to see if he remembered me from so long ago, thankfully Lakis did and we had a big hug and discussed many things including the collaboration with Cyprus Dream Weddings in the future. Well what can I say, amazing show, amazing customers some of whom who had ordered already but came to see us, so thank you all our wonderful supporters, we’ll be at Earls Court the 28th – 30th September and have already booked up for the two next year.

Hello, its been a long time since I have updated my blog but I felt the need to discuss and elaborate on this subject thats been on my mind for a while and particularly since the launch of Her Best Kept Secret (ssssshhhhhh exactly)

Well I suppose this is the question on everyones lips, is it really cost effective to have your wedding shoes dyed? Well primarily yes the process is amazing because this ensures that you can choose from literally thousands of wedding shoes and have them dyed to match your wedding theme perfectly. Many wedding shoe brands including Rainbow Club and Paradox London offer this facility which is just perfect for the whole bridal party, bridesmaids can have shoes perfectly co-ordinating the dresses and flowergirls can also match.

One thing I will say is this service generally is extremely popular with the Mother Of The Bride but is it really affordable? generally suppliers who offer a dyeing service charge around £30.00 to complete this process and even then they are not colourfast and it is recommended that the consumer scotchguards them otherwise if you do have the unfortunate rain spell on your day your wedding shoes could potentially end up with drip marks as they are not colourfast, meaning after the event you may want them done againand you can only dye shoes darker than their original colour so yes I’ll ask the question again, is it really affordable?

As an avid reader of all the popular wedding magazines including Perfect Wedding and Wedding Ideas and a huge fan of wedding blogs such as Love My Dress and Rock N Roll Bride, it seems apparant to me that brides are embracing the colour phenomenon and choosing vibrant wedding shoes even with stripes / spots and all other pretty designs that gives their wedding theme a particular edge and can be worn time and time again, although of course the dyeing process means simple ivory shoes can be transformed into colours of your choice to wear for anniversaries and so on.

I think it is clear that there is a definite market for coloured wedding shoes, purposely made in those traditional and more elaborate colours that are affordable and eliminate the dyeing process so let me introduce my latest find “Her Best Kept Secret”, the focus of this brand is definitly colours, a few styles but loads of colour choices with more being introduced every season. Her Best Kept Secret was launched purely to eliminate the dyeing process making this brand an extremely popular choice for the whole bridal party.

I love this group shot of the Rosebud Wedding Shoes, a simple classical design incorporating a beautiful hidden platform and just look at those colours ! Personally I adore the Coral for a summer wedding, the sun shining, a beach wedding, an ivory wedding gown and coral shoes, I think this would look particularly fetching.

So yes personally I feel the coloured wedding shoe phenomenon is a huge element to this industry so well done to Her Best Kept Secret.
