“What a Bride needs to consider when choosing Bridal Footwear”

So thats the big question I suppose, I mean we all as brides want to have the prettiest and perfect dress of our dreams but where do we fare when it comes to shoes? Ok so I was a bride in 2004 and married my wonderful husband in Cyprus but rather than worrying about comfort, I suppose all I cared about was how pretty my shoes were but it does appear that more and more feel that comfort is the key what with most brides wearing them in total for over 8 hours during the course of their wedding day. Heres our top 10 key tips for choosing your Wedding Footwear.

1 – Choose a brand that has is renowned in the field, why? because they have the experience of creating timeless classics incorporating glamour, comfort and almost all popular brands will have a range of shoes suitable for your budget. Our personal favourite is the Paradox London range featuring Pink By Paradox, Belle and Benjamin Adams and the Rainbow Club range also incorporating Else, leaders in the bridal shoe industry can mean only one thing, comfort, affordability and expertise in creating beautiful bridal shoes for the industry. In fact Paradox is a 2011 award winner.

2 – Wear a heel height and style that you are used to, if you’re comfortable in 3 inch heels normally why go and kill you calves and leg muscles not to mention your feet by trying 5 inch. You’ll find them unbearable to wear meaning you’ll spend the best day of your life worrying about blisters and you’ll end up walking around bear foot, cue beautiful ivory or white dress, black feet ! a very big no no. If you wear a wedding shoe that is on par with your normal fashion shoe then you should be fine.

3 – Pick the right colour, Almost all of us want shoes that compliment the dress perfectly which poses a problem on occasions for those with diamond white dresses, 95% of shoes can be bleached however the bleaching process does not guarantee a diamond white effect, thankfully brands such as Benjamin Walk based in the US offer a vast amount of styles, well in fact hundreds that are available in Diamond White therefore saving you the cost of bleaching/dyeing and meaning hopefully you can get the perfect match. My dress was a Maggie Diamond White and I ended up wearing silver shoes with complimented my pretty swarovski embellishments anyway.

4 – Pick a style that you can wear again! – Why would you want to buy a wedding shoe that you wear for one day and then it goes in a box in the roof to collect dust? choose a shoe that you would wear with jeans or another outfit on a special occasion, have them dyed to match and bobs your uncle you can wear them again and again.

5 – Skintone – Pick a shoe that compliments your skin tone, this creates added leg length and makes you look taller.

6 – Material – If your dress is silk we would recommend you choose a silk shoe thus complimenting the material of the dress, likewise with Satin, Lace etc. Theres no end of selection nowadays when it comes to shoes and their fabrics, even if it comes down to the detailing of the shoe, if your dress features pearls, why not choose a shoe that incorporates pearls into the design?

7 – Buy in advance!, we know only to well that alot of brides tend to purchase their shoes a day before the wedding and then end up in a complete panic when they don’t fit, they’re not the right style and then comes the bridezilla moment “we’ve all had them” Purchase your shoes at least 3 months in advance so you can ensure you have the pair of your dreams and wear them around the house to stretch them slightly for the big day. A bride with a plaster on her heels is not a good look :)

8 – Location, Consider where the ceremony is taking place, if you are getting married say on a beach the last thing you want to do is be sinking unelegantly into the sand so “think” about the whole day, where you will be wearing them and are they suitable.

9 – READ the terms and conditions of shoe purchases and consider how long for delivery whether this be in store on on-line, many high street shops do not offer a returns policy as most shoes are purchased to order meaning that if they don’t have your size in store and you have to order them you’ll have to keep them which I suppose is why many customers use the internet nowadays for this purchase as we are bound to offering a returns / exchange policy.

10 – Finally, browse the web fully, with no fewer than 200 styles on our own website alone (sorry for the shameless plug) you can spend hours looking and considering the perfect shoe for your day. If you’re stuck between 4 pairs why not order all 4 so you have them there in front of you, do look at the returns policy from the site you are ordering from as many sites do not allow more than 2 pairs for sampling.

Well i hope that kind of gave you a mini insight into what is to be considered, we’ll be back soon with our new blogs for our bridesmaid dress photoshoot happening the end of the month, our new showroom and our Benjamin Adams shoe videos, yes you heard it right videos, we were the original company to introduce 360 degree rotational imagery for the shoes but it seems others have got onto that trend so it was time for the change although an expensive one, we can showcase every fine detailing in real life providing you the bride with lots of various viewing components, we are very excited about this and don’t worry we’re already planning our next shoe move before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon ;) !!!!!

Videos Of Wedding Shoes – To do or not to do?

Well we’re very excited to be introducing a very new concept to our online businesses, so what did we want to acheive? well we have been doing 360 degree rotational images to show customer the full view of a shoe but its clear that images and rotational images can only show so much not to mention the web is bombarded with those who do the same :(

We want to show you the fine detailing of our favourite wedding shoes so after much deliberation over cost and how this can be acheived, we have now given it the go ahead for the beautiful Benjamin Adams collection and will be rolling this out for Pink By Paradox & Belle.

Why choose the Benjamin Adams collection and other collections from Paradox London you ask? Because its our favourite brand of course, don’t get me wrong we are extremely proud of all our collections otherwise we wouldn’t sell them but theres just something special about this brand and heres why.

Whats the most important thing apart from design for a bride to be? comfort of course and let me tell you this brand excels in this area, cushioned insoles with soft padding, soft satin and silk fabrics, a variety of heel heights some of which you wouldn’t believe were comfortable due to their high heel but trust me they are. I’m a sucker for grabbing one of them every now and then and having them dyed for a night out.

In fact as embarrasing as this seems this blog has come about as I am having a well deserved day off from promoting products, discussing new video concepts and implementing them, discussing new projects, thinking of more products to wow you with so here I am wearing my beautiful Charlize Wedding Shoes which Paradox kindly dyed midnight blue for me (they’re not dyeable by the way but I managed to persuade them to do it for me, i think it took a few coats but here they are on my feet sparkling away plus I have been listening to my favourite tunes dancing around the lounge like a nutter but thats my point, they are so comfortable you can walk, dance and jump around in them. My favourite shoe at the moment by far.

I hope this gives you an insight into why I have chosen to introduce the new revolutionary video concept for the Paradox London collection and I very much hope to have at least 20 styles to showcase by the end of this month, excited moi? but to give you a sneaky peak, heres a link to the beautiful Lana wedding shoes which were shot for a trial, yes a few tweaks needed but we’re definitly rolling with it :) By the way Lana is a discontinued shoe unfortunately but we do have sufficient stocks at the moment to supply most sizes if this video makes you want them.

I’m sure you’ll all agree this is going to be worth it, lets be different from the rest although I am already planning my next move, catwalk, models, shoes, videos, photos, location arggghhhhhhhh.

We’ve ascertained Platinum Stockist for the Paradox London brand for over 5 years now and will continue to promote them as our favourite brand for the near future.

So here we are sneaky peak at the new concept, enjoy.

Wow Wow Wow – cue excitement here at GOE HQ, we have a lovely sneaky peek for you of the New Spring 2011 from the fabulous Paradox London collection featuring Little Miss Pink, Pink, Belle and Benjamin Adams.

So lets get on explaining the beautiful collection whilst we have them here right next to us to explain in full detailing.  Eeekkkkk we love looking at the shoes close up and we look forward to sharing their beauty with you.

So lets get started.

Benjamin Adams will be featuring two new styles Catherine & Clara.

Catherine Wedding Shoes were developed in commemoration of the forthcoming Royal Wedding and will be featured in a variety of national bridal publications. All cut-out areas on the shoe are made with fine ivory mesh therefore on-trend with current catwalk collections. This is a non-dyeable style. This fabulous shoe featyres an 8.5cm heel height and is available for an RRP of £299.00 from May, its a shame they are non dyeable but in all fairness with all the beautiful swarovski crystals, they wouldn’t need dyeing, you could wear them time and time again :) These also feature the signature Benjamin Adams soft insole with padding for that extra comfort.

Clara is made using Spanish lace and Swarovski beads. Mesh and lace on-trend with current catwalk collections. This is a non-dyeable style.  This shoe is just adorable and we have been waiting for a lace shoe to be incorporated into the collection and once again Paradox London have excelled on quality and design of this shoe.  We hope they bring out this one in a range of coloured lace eventually as they would be just divine. This will have a price of £169.00 and is made from the finest silk with a fantastically high 10cm heel height.

The  mid range Belle collection this year will be featuring one new style named Marine

Marine is going to be a brides must have this year we feel, taking on the classic closed back with a peep toe and a fantastic vintage style gem brooch to the side in alignment with some beautiful soft pleating.  RRP of £99.95 and a fabulous 9.5cm heel height.

We love the Pink By Paradox affordable collection in satin, we have three fabulous new styles this year, first up being Girly.  Girly offers a beautiful platform frontage with peep toe and is simply finished off with a beautiful vintage brooch comprising elegant swirls and diamantes for added glamour.  This shoe offers a high heel of 9.5cms, equally perfect for those with a smaller foot as they start from a size 2 along with Catherine, Clara, Pretty & Marine. Girly will be sold for £69.95

Kiss is a pretty mid heel side cut out shoe with again a fabulous vintage brooch to the front with side pleating and what we believe to be stunning mother of pearl elements (to be confirmed), we love love love this shoe and can’t wait to pop this one onto our site. Kiss will be available for £59.95

Pretty is a simple overlay high heel wedding shoe with a platform frontage, pretty Pink By Paradox insole with padding, this shoe almost mimics a two tone satin fabric with the fabulous overlays of satin, simple yet effective.  This shoe also has a 9.5 cms heel height and will be available with a price of £69.95

Lets move onto the pretty Little Miss Pink collection which seems to have had a complete overhaul this year.

The first shoe to introduce is “Snow”   a pretty flat flowergirl shoe available in Ivory or White satin and featuring an elasticated band for the bridge of the little ones foot, a stunning assymetrical pleating to the front finished off with the most adorable diamante heart (everybody go awwwwwwwwwwww) :) With a fabulous price bracket of £34.95 and still featuring the signature Pink soft padding for extra comfort and fully dyeable, these shoes can be worn just time and time again.

Cinderella is up next, this perfect glittering spectacle of a little girls shoe is every little ones fantasy, a fabulous round toe, a flat heel and beautiful glitter everywhere (except the strap), perfect for £29.95 we think.

Beauty is up next and fabulous considering its also available in adult sizes too with a low heel height of 2.5 cms, we feel this is a mini version of the best seller Sherbert and we just know this will be a big seller for 2011 guaranteed. Again with a perfect price of £34.95.

Finally we have Ariel, we can only assume “The Little Mermaid” contributed to the name and of course all little girls love this Disney classic so why not let them have their own piece of Ariel ;) pretty little pointed toe with a square frontage for those little tootsies and a rim of pretty crystals with an adjustable strap, again £34.95 and with a 2.5cms heel height.

So our final note: – We get the impression heel heights are going up, gone are the bog standard 6cm heels, we’re moving into a world where brides want to be taller and feel leaner. What we love most about this move within the wedding shoe industry is that when you have brands such as these whom we love dearly and have dealt with for a long time, it proves their attention to detail and comfort means that brides are happy to wear higher heels from a renowned supplier who ensure comfort is at its most.

So there you have it, the latest offerings available from May 2011 but just for you we shall be offering pre-ordering of the ranges within the next week or so (keyboards at the ready ladies) !!!!!  In the meantime if you cannot wait for us to add them onto the site any longer then please get in touch with us sales@girlsofelegance.co.uk and we’ll take your pre-order right away.

Enjoy and well done Paradox London once again for a fab range x
